Yeah, New Gods woulda been sweet in Ferry style.

He's got this loose and wicked sense of anatomy and spandex that looks simple and dynamic and pure. This new dude likes to crosshatch.

Still, it may be okay if: Like how 7S:TMG#3 was a stand-alone story, 7S:MM#1 is a stand-alone by Ferry, and the subsequent issues are a MM story done by Patton. Och. This is my United States of Whatever.

I don't really think he cares if people understand the original reference or if the album is old or even good. it's just adding a more "pop" sound to older term. He's obviously trying to update MM to be much more of a celebrity pop star.

Eh, I don't want to see anyone else refer to a Mother Box in such a way... but given as Shiloh Norman is described as a cross between David Blaine and P-Diddy.... both of whom are wankers who try too hard... then is stands to reason that Shiloh would be a wanker who tries too hard.

It's good that the standard of discussion is being kept at the high level we have come to expect.

Flyboy, Duncan, MacGuyver, Buckwheat - calm down. I think it's going to be tricky to make absolute judgements about whether Morrison's treatment of celebrity is successful without actually reading the comic. Likewise whether Mr Miracle is a stereotyped black character. I'd be suspicious of the Puff Daddy/David Blaine stuff, myself - that's a quote from Morrison, isn't it?

I would think part of the point of Mr Miracle (wouldn't want to speculate on the whole point yet, as the comic is not out yet) is that he is a flashy celebrity. I don't see how one can object to Puff Daddy as a comparison (which, lest we forget, was only in a bloody description of the comic, which is not out yet), unless you were going to try and argue that Diddy is not famous... Oh wait. You are. Well, when he presented the MTV Video Music Awards 2005, as far as I'm aware there was not a great deal of confusion among the crowd as to his identity.

NB: To pre-empt the inevitable, the above isn't necessarily an endorsement of Puff Daddy.
