Yay and thanks! I'm more than happy to be a moderator in G&G but is there some part of the wiki that could guide me on my way to good moderatorship?
Advice and tips are also welcome.

I don't know whether there's moderator advice out there but if not, I suggest this: If someone is wanting you to change a post but has not actually made any changes, they might have meant to delete it instead, so go into the post, check if that's right and re-submit it for deletion. Otherwise, though really in very rare cases, just because someone wants something changed or deleted you don't have to automatically change it. But if you turn something down, you should PM the person to let them know why.

Cistern, you could always bump this thread, or this one, for any question-asking that anyone wants to do. That might be helpful about now.

Er, Haus is now two moderators, apparently. That's... odd, to say the least. Surely the board should recognise when that sort of mistake has been made?

Randy, I think Tom enters mods into the database manually (or that's the impression I get from the way we need to state user number and forum) -a database wouldn't actually check for duplicates, and as far as the board goes it's just printing that info to the screen. It wouldn't mean Haus has two votes either (don't know if you thought it would, just chucking this out in case anyone gets that impression) as the user number will be stored against a moderation request if xe votes on it, meaning that neither instance of that number against the G&G entry in the database will be able to vote again.

That's how I understand the software to work anyway -I'm sure Tom will correct me if I'm wrong...

It should do, surely? I presume that the profile number acts as the primary key in the members table. Have that combine with the forum number for the new unique identifier in the moderators table and it'd prevent accidental repetition, yeah?

(Hope that's right - if not, I think I might have discovered the reason why I'm still unemployed.)

Nope. There's a separate moderators table with a different primary key per moderator that connects the concept of a user with the concept of a forum to create 'moderators'. Hence the mistake. Will fix.

Oh, I only just found out that I'm a mod. :P

Thanks anyway, I suppose I'd better go and find out how it works.
