Stoatie. Stoatie? STOATIE.

I've always thought aggressive spooning would probably be closer to knifing, but that surely can't be right.

Hmm. I can't say this without sounding awfully egotesticle, but I would like to put more stuff up for critique on the Creation, but I'm beggining to worry about copyright and stuff- do people forfeit anything by putting it up on the barb?

Ex
09:33 / 10.02.06
A lot of online writing mags, and some print ones, want to have first online publication/publication anywhere rights to a story/poem.
I know nothing of further ramifications.

Dead Megatron
(prev. Dance to the Beat)
12:59 / 14.02.06
I wouldn't say I'm pissed off over this, but the Head Shop and Laboratory foruns have been kinda slugish as of lately, and that's makes me sad...

Boboss
20:08 / 14.02.06
Apologies to the 125, but, Mummy, I don't like it. Makes me feel all icky.

Yes, that's right, I am a miserable bastard.

20:16 / 14.02.06
I'm with you Boboss. I tried valiently to evade capture, but failed sometime last year and now I'm on the list. We're just Pokemon to her.

Boboss
20:18 / 14.02.06
I wonder who she plays against?

Yes, that's right, I am a miserable bastard.

You're also on the list, albeit in your collective form as GGM's friends

I really am very sorry.

Anyone can be Spartacus Hughes Met Anna!

Look, I'd do it myself, but I'm very tired and having a very bad week, and his pullulating victimologies might just tip me over the edge. Could somebody have a little chat with Shadowsax about global history here?

Thanks.

Besides, the guy is a freakin' mirror, when it comes down to new info. Or so it seems sometimes. What would be the point?

Can I just say, right here, right now, that the only person I've ever met off barbelith is Smoothly Weaving. He put me off barbemeets for life. What a dick. I hate that guy.

Mourne Kransky
23:17 / 15.02.06
What a dick

Really? What was it that impressed you most about it? Remember, I am something of a connoisseur. I hadn't realised you knew him that well.

A Haus of Minions
(prev. Jenna Elfman's Hollywood Haus)
00:04 / 16.02.06
What would be the point?

Sometimes you're the pupil, sometimes you're the lesson. He is writing from a country that regularly executes its own citizens, that holds without trial, tortures and facilitates the torture of its own nationals and those of other countries, threatens nuclear aggression, still holds homosexual activity to be illegal in many states and on and on and sorrowfully talking about how some people, whose countries have been exploited and dominated by his country's leaders and elites with the connivance of his country's leaders, are just less civilised than him. It's the kind of stuff I'd rather not see representing Barbelith.

Hello, boys. No, we don't mind at all. I mean, we were talking about misogyny and feminism, but we realise that you need somewhere to talk about the hitherto unrealised megaton destruction force of your own winkies. If not now, when? If not here, where?

No dammit, that's where I smoke pot.

I am annoyed by threads moving too fast to be a part of.

Is that a Burroughs reference?

Quantum
(prev. Quantum - terribly nonplussed)
13:56 / 02.03.06
Seven introduction threads on the first page alone. Sheesh. It's lovely to have you people but really, really annoying when you all forget to read the wiki or search the board or search the convo or look three inches down the fricking page before starting a thread.

DRR... DRR... DRR...
13:58 / 02.03.06
Thing is, though, a lot of those are actually old threads (one from 2002). Jack Fledmeld has decided to bump them as a sort of jape or funniment.

Smoothly
14:09 / 02.03.06
But Quantum, didn't you bump a couple of them first? I thought Jack's little bumping spree was his way of demonstrating his objection.

kthnxbye or variations thereof has insidiously permeated the usually impenetrable walls of 'Barbelith does not tolerate stupid silly sign-offs'.

Please, everyone stop it. Really, really.

Sax
14:36 / 02.03.06
Can we be a little less world-weary in the actual introductions threads, though, when informing people that we don't like them? Lula posted one welcome with a gentle reminder; others have been a bit off-putting. Cut some slack, guys? The threads will rapidly fall down the list anyway.

Mourne Kransky
15:09 / 02.03.06
I hear you, Sax. I am all in favour of cutting the newbies some slack. I remember how sensitive and tentative I once was.

However, if we don't want this turning into the Scissor Sisters' Board, it's not a bad idea to point out unhelpful posting habits before they become ingrained. It has been getting very a/s/l of late, for understandable reasons.

It's normal behaviour to post on an introductions thread elswhere, for sure, as it's normal to add signatures and use lots of smileys. But this is not elsewhere.

However, all of this is a minor grumble to set against the anticipation of a wealth of new contributors dazzling us old folk.

There's a Scissor Sisters board?? And what's more, you know what it's like. Wow.

I remember how sensitive and tentative I once was.

I must have been off sick that day.

Mourne Kransky
21:56 / 02.03.06
Ariadne, the Scissor Sisters' Board is like Dallas, when compared to the Barbelith's Newsnight. The drama, the stupidity, the childish squabbles, the creepy stalkers! And you get all of those on the Scissor Sisters' Board too.

Sax, you weren't off sick. You were bunking off, watching daytime tv with your nipples rouged.

pointless & uncalled for
22:41 / 02.03.06
I hate the term "unpack". Unpack is something I do when I come home from holiday, not what I do to explain things further than before.

I am an anti-jargon nazi, which is jargon, and now I feel dirty.

Axolotl
00:50 / 03.03.06
Sigs. I know it's been said before, but they're so unnecessary and just incredibly irritating. They enrage me so I can't even begin to engage sensibly with people who use them, even if I want to, which in turn makes me irritated with myself and it turns into a big annoying feedback loop.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
01:19 / 03.03.06
it turns into a big annoying feedback loop

I've never done it on Barbelith, but reading the initial post in this thread way back when made me stop and consider "why exactly do I put T-M at the end of each post on (message board X) when I usually put my login right next to the selfsame post for easy reference?" So I quit, as doing so was (and is) completely superfluous to contributing to a message board.

A small step to enlightenment, perhaps, but one I thank this thread for.
