It wouldn't be as opposed to, since he's been confronted directly. I'm guessing that it's not in addition to either, so much as it is the way that people communicate their views when they feel that direct talk has had poor results.

I cannot speak for others but I don't think all behavior and all views are equally deserving of a direct response.
