And so did most other people where I work, where there's been a cloud of mass redundancies hanging over us like... umm... a cloud, I suppose. (Basically, we negotiated a good enough deal with management of a good pay-off for anyone who actually WANTED to leave, that more people volunteered to leave than they wanted to get rid of.)
Not much interest to anyone, in all probability, but I'm REALLY HAPPY!!! and my flatmate had gone to work before I got a chance to get all happy at her, so I guess you guys will just have to put up with this rambling post.
(Oh yeah- and we wangled a bonus of backdated holiday pay for A FUCKING YEAR for everyone who's staying!)

Well done Snork lover. Shit, voluntary redundancy seem like a good idea to me ...

What a relief for you! Hoorah!

And you must have been pretty good at that negotion table! Hmmmmm, maybe I need to steal some advice from you on that score!

Well done and I hope it takes a weight from your mind.

Love and Hugs

Thank you, everyone!
And yes, sfd, I did... one of many (there were a couple of us from every shift from both firms). The only reason I actually did it was because a friend of mine (who I thought would have been so much better) said at first he wasn't going to do it- he ended up doing it as well, and, lo and behold, he was not only much better but also largely instrumental in sorting the whole thing out. (Don't get me wrong- I did my bit as well- he was just more organised than me, and doesn't back down as easily).
HURRAH!!! (sorry, I'm still very very happy about this unexpected turn of events, and therefore very drunk as well-or at the very least, on my way to being very drunk as well).

Thank you. Tis most cool.
Oh, and btw, Mordant- have YOU ever managed to figure out to what tune the "all small beasts" thing goes, cos everytime I read 'em it's different. And I can never make it scan properly.
Me still happy- and, and, AND, one of my best mates who I hadn't seen for ages and had lost touch with, but who ended up working at the company we're merging with, has not only also kept his job but is working on my shift!

"All small beasts shall have bows in their tails", originally "Alla små djur ha rosett på sin svans" doesn't have a tune, I think, not even in swedish..

Anyway, congrats on the results. And don't forget: "educate, agitate, organize".
