I just wrote a load of code to set up a blogring for another board I go on, Urban75. (You can see the results here).

Would anyone be interested in something similar, rather than just a list, for Barbelith? We're pretty blog-heavy after all. Bear in mind that everything you see can be changed - it's fairly basic and just uses the standard stylesheet for my site. I can redesign, add functionality if anyone's got any good ideas, categories, keywords, whatever.

A way to organize by "recently updated", "frequently updated", etc, would be nice.

Feel free to take anything from the Barbeblogs list you want. I haven't had time or tools to update it in a loooooong time now.

Could grab data from RSS feeds to get that - though if people don't have them, it's a bit tricky.

The data is ganked from the old page, but this one allows you to have a separate name to that of your blog, and also a description if you want one.

An RSS feed of new blogs? Easy. An OPML file for all of them so that you can import them into a newsreader? Sure. I'll look at doing both of these.

However a feed for all of the entries from all of the blogs would be a big hit on my server. That's something that it's best to do in your own newsreader.

Yeah, it does, but that's Safari's bastard fault. No XML parser like Firefox or anything nice like that. They're just *making* me do this stuff at work rather than at home.

Incidentally, the more people who put a link back to the page, the more likely people are to click through to your blog, and the better all sorts of rankings get. It's not mandatory but it helps. (Linkery page, and if anyone fancies doing a better button, they're welcome.)
