Ok, I've just moved to Glasgow and thought a barbemeet on the west coast might be a good idea. I know there's some west coast lithers around (though of course anyone's more than welcome to come along). I was thinking maybe sometime towards the end of the month. Anyone interested?
P.S As my name suggests I don't have my own internet connection at the moment and am thus reliant on using the library one so I can only check in 2 or 3 times a week, so I may not be able to reply immediately.

yawn - thing's buddy

We're conducting some investigations into your past.

You will be contacted shortly.

Loomis
21:00 / 15.03.05
Well if eastcoasters are allowed then I'm always up for a night out in Glasgow.

Investigations into my past? Questions, why all the questions? Curses, now my plans will be thwarted... I mean fine, go ahead, I've nothing to hide.
Loomis, of course eastcoasters are welcome, though you will be expected to participate in a ridiculous rivalry carried out through record releases, culminating in the tragic deaths of the main protagonists.

Just wondering if this meeting has already taken place or has still to be arranged?

Ariadne
13:38 / 04.04.05
Sounds good! We're away a lot of this month and all of next, but it'd be fun to come through to Glasgow if the dates work out.

Ariadne
13:46 / 04.04.05
d'oh. I really must look at the dates on threads. Did this happen?

A beautiful tunnel of ghosts
12:50 / 05.04.05
Well, in the absence of feedback, I'm saying that it didn't happen and that we should organise something that suits our schedules. When and where suits you, Ariadne?

Axolotl
21:28 / 08.04.05
As far as I know it never happened but as the name suggests I haven't been online much, however if people are still up for a barbemeet we should try and organise one.

When is everyone available?

Lurid Archive

Actually, I'm going to be in Edinburgh in a couple of weeks. Is that of interest to anyone?

Ariadne
19:30 / 10.04.05
ooooh, of course. depends whether you actually mean precisely two weeks though - in three weeks we're off to Australia. But if you mean in a fortnight's time, then magic - it'd be great to see you. Is MC coming too?

Lurid Archive
20:06 / 10.04.05
No. MC is trapped in Barcelona.

But I arrive in Edinburgh on the Sunday 24th - at the crack of dawn, I might add - and leave on the wednesday. Is that two weeks? Hell, what is today? Does anyone else ever wish they had one of those HUD things installed in their brain with a broadband connection which displayed the time and date? That would be really useful.

Ariadne
20:29 / 10.04.05
Yep, that's two weeks - to the day, indeed. So cool - it'd be good to see you.

Lurid Archive
20:40 / 10.04.05
OK. Its a date. Without the specifics of the actual time and place. But, morally, its arranged.

I thought you were in Glasgow, though. Aren't you? I guess it isn't far. (I'm also going to Glasgow, but only for about 12 hours.)

Ariadne
21:12 / 10.04.05
No, we're in Edinburgh, just off Leith Walk. Where will you be staying? Do you know when you'll be free?

Lurid Archive
21:21 / 10.04.05
Its a continuation of my publicity tour of maths depts, which means I will be free every evening. Mostly.

Ariadne
21:30 / 10.04.05
ok, excellent. Where will you be? I think we'll be free any night, too.

Ariadne
21:35 / 10.04.05
Let's say Sunday, and then we can always catch up again later in the week, too.
Do you want to do something during the day on sunday?

Lurid Archive
21:37 / 10.04.05
A hotel near Haymarket. So I'm guessing that thats pretty good in terms of meeting places.

Ariadne
21:46 / 10.04.05
Perfect, yes. Well, I'll/ we'll have a think about what to do. Since we're having this discussion on the board, does anyone else fancy a beer on Sunday night? I can vouch for Lurid being a lovely man.

I'll PM you our phone numbers, Lurid.

So ... just to breathe some life back into this thread. What time are we looking at? An afternoon thing? Evening?

Loomis
15:54 / 19.04.05
How does around 6pm sound? Are any Glasgow lithers coming along - will that give you time to make it back home?

A beautiful tunnel of ghosts
17:56 / 19.04.05
I won't be able to come, unfortunately. Have a great night and if there's another meeting in Glasgow then I'll see you all there.

Loomis
10:39 / 22.04.05
Ok people. I've made an executive decision. 6pm Sunday 24th April at the Guildford Arms.

See you then!

Ariadne
14:18 / 22.04.05
I'll be there!

Loomis

Man, I never use this forum.

Just skimmed the posts and thought I'd missed something; and I really fancied going out today. However, I see it was in Edinburgh (not on the West Coast, really now, is it?)

Anyway, I'll pop back and check later to see if anyone has any good ideas about Glesca nights on another occasion.

Cheers dears.

Sorry Duncan, us Edinburgh people just derailed the thread by accident. We should have a Glasgow meet soon though!

Duncan, when would you - and any other West Coast Avengers - be available for a Glasgow Barbemeet (sans beards)?

Are any Glasgow posters going to this?

Bots'wana Beast
02:33 / 04.05.05
I fancied it; actually came here to suggest just that, but I'm a little confused by mention there of a 'private view'. Invitation only or what?
