Is this a Comics' thread? I appreciate that Oddman might think he'll get the most responses in the comics forum, but I'm not convinced that a thread about cocktails is really appropriate.

Uh, looks like another list over in the Top 5 Albums thread.

Have PMed, etc...

Hmm, the Invisibles cocktail is probably more of a Conversation thread I would have said. I'll ask for a move...

OK, here is an interesting case this thread is on a BBC news story. Unfortunately the the heading and opening abstract of the BBC story is lazy and misleading since upon closer inspection nothing is actually being banned.

I am concerned that repeating a misleading claim in the title of this thread is actually serving to lend it it more credance and at the urging of petey shaftoe, have moved to amend it... the rest is down to distributed moderation.

But yes, the question could apply to any number of topics and forums - to what extent should we be attempting to limit misleading information in the form of titles and abstracts when they directly quote external source materials?

Ok, the link above is wrong. I've put it up for fixing but meanwhile this is the right link.

I think it's largely down to moderators instincts. After all, we still have the 'homophobic BBC Online' thread in the Switchboard.

As long as the thread title is not making use of phrases that we wouldn't want people to use to find Barbelith, 'Protocols real! Hears da proof!!!1!' type stuff, as long as someone questions it inside the thread I'd think that was okay.

Has anyone checked out the threads in Creation. I don't have time to read them but it seems a little violent to post so many threads at once.

I'm not a Creation mod but I'd call that spam... LINK to the buggers, or put 'em all in one thread, dammit!

Yep, saw them. I don't think there's any reason for them not to occupy one thread. Wot I did was delete; the duplicate thread then copy and paste the remaining materials into one thread and bold the individual headings. Then change that thread heading into something like Five Short Stories. They don't seem to have been agreed to yet or maybe they have even been disagreed to. Leave it till tomorrow maybe to see if it goes through. I haven't pm-ed the poster in question regarding the changes as of yet in case anyone has a better course of action.

I also then put up the now superfluous remaining threads for deletion.
(and I just put through an accidental moderation request on my last post, please ignore, I am now officially having a bad day. Arrgh)

There's also a double post by Hawksmoor in Alex Thoth's Children of Mars Thread. Could somebody be a dear and delete one of them?

Gah - we now have threads that Hawksmoor has double-posted to Creation and elsewhere, and the risk that people will post to threads that have been moved for deletion. Could eferyone be a dear and nip back to the threads they moved for deletion to warn people that their comments may also be deleted?

Personally, I'd probably have left the threads as they were, but with added summaries - they're irritating, but he's not selling anything except himself - but having them all in one won't hurt either. As long as we don't get a situation where the adding of the stories to the one thread is disagreed and all the deletions are agreed...

I'm guessing that someone else disagreed to them at this stage. Recommended course of action anyone? Just add abstracts?

Yeah, go with that. There hasn't been a flood of responses to 'em so they'll probably be dropping off the front page soon anyway.

Can anyone work out what's wrong with this link?

Two efforts to fix it have failed to make it better. That Baywatch is clearly some weird ju-ju.

Can’t quite believe I’m doing this, but I think this is the link that sleaze was trying to post, sans all the search terms and all the other gubbins. The nearest super-mod, one possessing the awesome COMBINED POWER of Policy and Convo, can now just cut and paste the code right out of my post. And I can’t do a thing to stop you.

this URL.

*rubs eyes, yawns* ..Happy new year everyone, by the way.

It would be really nice if Flux ammended his Post in the 'albums of the Year' thread- Boboss and Stoatie have both brought it up in thread and I believe Boboss PM'd him- If you guys are deleting posts that are just lists I would prefer the same policy for everyone.

Sorry to snark.

Can we maybe move this thread in a few days, if it dies a death, to the conversation:

It's just that I didn't notice the sports threads getting much of a response.

I think maybe it's because it's mostly games that are being discussed, and so not a lot of people are visiting, other than, you know, gamers.

Plus, it seems to me that they're two different ends of the spectrum. Computer games are largely sit-at-home, brain-and-finger-taxing affairs, whereas sport is physically interactive, and requires you to leave the house.

Obviously, naked Twister is exempt from this idea.

Our Lady: Could you provide a good, compelling reason why you want to lock and delete a thread, and why anybody else should support this move, either here or in your moderation request? Otherwise you're relying on bad moderation. Lots of people have contributed to that thread.

Copey's bottle: Could you change your link to the thread reference, rather than to Flux's profile? You get it by clicking on the timestamp of the post.

And, out of interest, could somebody clue me in on what happened in the Headshop? Should we now tidy and delete Nina and GGM's posts, as they refer to stuff that isn't there anymore?

I've put my post up for deletion. I was told that it was going to be deleted but presumably the moderator who was going to do so was waiting for the others to go through and is offline right now. Since GGM's refers to the deletion primarily I don't think there's a problem with getting rid of it.

'S in thread, but can comics mods either judiciously prune the Hawksmoor thread, so it's about the supposed topic, and not peeps being snippy about an overenthusiastic daftie, or just bin it altogether, please?

does anyone feel that flyboy intended the thread as a genuine resource for information about a comic book character?
or is it accepted that it was started to harrass another poster?

if the latter, i say lock it.

its a horrific way to treat people who have(to my knowledge) done nothing wrong.
sort that shit out or allay my fears, please.

"Horrific", eh? Well if you say so, toksy.

I started the thread because I noticed that one of the new members of the board, Hawksmoor, posts by whom can be seen here, and by scrolling down a little here*, had a sig* that read "Hawksmoor... from the Bleed", and I had this nagging question about this. My memory of it was that Jack Hawksmoor wasn't actually from the Bleed, but I thought I should ask in the Comics forum as I don't have the Stormwatch comics in question.

*Whether these qualify as doing anything wrong is up for debate...

the content wasnt horrific, sure.
that the thread seemed to be designed to harrass another poster was.

if you say that wasnt your intention, then i apologise for my part in misreading the situation.
perhaps you should have clarified with jack and chad that you werent getting at someone, as that seems to have been their understanding.

if you urgently wanted to know, why not ask hawksmoor? or maybe use a general thread? one line thread starters are kinda frowned upon, arent they?
