I was very young when I started that Anime thread please forgive me. Im now much older and wiser and to be honest I wish it was locked because I cringe whenever I read my posts in it.

Sorry dude, didn't mean it to sound like I'm placing blame. I think we all contributed to the form it took, myself included. It could have had a much better standard of discussion if we'd all chipped it. That I now think it's unsaveable is no comment on you and how you started it.

Lacking the energy to follow and document the fascinating feuds between Barbeloids I do wonder what the previous is between Nina and John. If Der Falke is bringing this up just to start another round of 'the oldies get away with a lot more than newbies would' then I really couldn't care less.

To be honest, I think it would do just as well in books. I remember we had a similar situation with people talking about Chomsky and the Switchboard.

I'm none too bothered, really- it would fit in either. Mind you, Books could probably benefit from the extra traffic.

Books could work, but it still seems more suited to Music as the subject (Bangs) writes about music, so discussion would hopefully follow on his and other writers' criticism of their subject. Or that's how it seems to me, and I see your point Stoatie regarding the Chomsky precedent.

I've PM'd Flyboy directly about his post in the BDSM Questions thread but I'm very concerned about such a mocking response to another post in a Questions oriented topic.

Personal histories between the posters aside (I don't know but it feels like something old rearing its ugly head) I'd like to ask a Headshop Mod to eyeball the current exchange. I see Haus and MC are Headshop Mods but again there seems to be some history being poked?

To be clear if some heated words are about to be exchanged I'd really appreciate it if the BDSM Questions thread did not play host simply because that's where someone is posting. Take it to the Armoury please.

Um. That's actually a set of rather high-falutin' and archaic Spanish sign-offs for letter-writing. ...and like you say, Flybers, Dedi has previous. However he did actually acknowledge that he was out of line and apologised. I'm less bothered about his past history and more concerned that he engage with the board in a productive way in the future.

I've agreed Callsign's request to delete the offending post. I can sympathise with his position though, as I was all for banning DEDI the last time and anticipate another troublesome period if his posting continues in the vein it has in that thread. It's not so much a personal vendetta as a potential troll situation.

I think the phrase "established troll" is a little loaded, and probably best avoided. Having said that, I think personalised attacks directed toward a particular user (the "your mother" thing being a good example) are one of the biggies when talk turns towards banning. I'm prepared to take my lead from Mordant here, though.

Right, my lead. Basically: when last we saw our plucky band of heroes, Dedi had issued an apology (a real apology, as in "I'm sorry I did X where X = not okay thing" rather than the more popular "I'm sorry... sorry THAT YOU'RE ALL STUPID!!" flavour more prevalent in these parts). As far as I'm concerned this earned Dedi another go of Barbelith.

What I'd appreciate from Dedi now is a for-real attempt to re-engage with the board. This means engaging with the posts, rather than the posters. I'm a bit perturbed that when invited to unpack a problematic post in a more appropriate thread, Dedi chose to get a bit personal with a couple of the mods. Nothing dreadful was said, but we now have a bit of a mare's nest in the BDSM thread.

Nobody is interested in point-scoring or personal feuds here (we've got Livejournal for that). It's less important to get in the last word than it is to contribute to the smooth running of the thread. Sound fair?

Mods - I started a thread about finding a therapist - put it in headshop, but then wasn't sure if it should be there - someone recommended conversation? Should it be there, or in temple or stay in head shop? Thank you.

I'd say Convo. Therapy isn't exactly a natural Temple topic, neither is finding a therapist really the kind of thing that the Headshop caters for.

Convo also gets lots of traffic so you could get many more responses there than elsewhere.
