I already do that. I love walking on walls and jumping over things and swinging around poles.

I so want to do this... I remember that Nike commercial, it totally floored me at the time, the dude running up the walls... I have dreams about this, running through the streets at night, acrobat-ing all over the place, flipping lightly over cars and dancing across beams...

Of course, generally in those dreams I'm also Catwoman.

Thanks! There's a little creek just ouside my building. I'm going to try to jump over it before it gets too cold out...

I think that this and lentation are two things that can be combined, even when your not thinking about it. When you jump somewhere or are moving fast, things can easily look like they are slowing down. I don't know if it's that you focus a lot more or it's a change in perception or not, but I've noticed it a few times.

I'm a girl who is interested in free running, but when I mention it to any of my (male)free running friends, they act like girls free running is the craziest, stupidest idea in the world. You only ever see men and boys doing Parkour in the videos and photos; I've never even heard of a girl doing it.
So what do you guys think? Is it completely insane for a girl to want to do Parkour?

Lots of girls do it, but a lot less than boys. If you look on any of the parkour site messageboards you will see posts from girls. In fact one board I read, I think it was urbanfreeflow had a whole thread about exactly your question.

But... but... girl's can't skate...

...why should they free-run?

She's looking for you.

Thanks for that article, grant. It was very informative.

(Just to clarify, the picture is not of the author of the article. That's Peggy Oki, one of the original "Z-boys" of the Zephyr Skate Team. If there was any doubt.)

oddly I can't see the picture at all.

I'm now on a mission to develop enough upper body strength to haul myself over a wall. I might never obtain speed nor grace but I should be able to improve enough to escape the doughnut consuming fuzz after a night of moon bathing nekked on roof tops.

I'm really intrigued but feel, frankly, too old and too uncoordinated to get into this. I'm in reasonably decent shape, but I've never been good with "agility" sports. The sense of community surrounding the sport has a lot of appeal to it, though, as does just the idea of total freedom of movement.

Like MattShepherd, I love the idea. But me and physical exertion don't really get on. I'm quite happy for younger, stronger people to do this and film themselves so I can watch.
