Though it was a different year I went to Brighton Pride, I'm afraid.

If it's cool and balmy, it's a very nice little saunter, and I will attend, wearing something stupid. If it's as hot as this last weekend, I will be lying in a cold bath instead, but sending mental support.

Keep an eye out for the Brighton & Hove mobile library van who usually turn up stocked with queer lit treats - I'm always pleased about that.

so what's the route of the parade? missus says it's along western road but i thought it went seafront/steine/preston park and can't see how w-road would fit that too too well.
would like to go and look and cheer and get a bit of fresh air before retreating to weekend indolence.

'uncle', yr missus know nothing, noooothing(but she does a hottt haircut!). From the pride site:

The parade starts at 11am on Saturday August 7th and traditionally has left Madeira Drive for a straight route along the Steine, along the London Road to Preston Park.

This year it will leave Madeira Drive and head along the seafront to West Street, go up West Street to the Clock Tower and turn right into North Street and down past what was Hanningtons to the Steine. At the Steine it will turn left and resume on the old route to Preston Park along the London Road.

I'm really feeling the urge to go. I love Pride Parades! I just found out today that my party boat docks in Greenwich at 1pm. Maybe I'll hop a train to Waterloo and off to Brighton Pride at that time? Je ne sais pas.

humph. and i missed both Brighton Pride and Leeds Unity Day to see friends in Manchester, so while you were dancing by the seaside I was wandering up and down Canal Street getting the evil eye from vile, vile boys who disapproved of our clothing and thought we had no right to be there. Shame on them. It is only sensible to wear a wide-brimmed hat in the sun.
