Ball, ball, ball, footie footie footie - plans for Q-Final Thursday?

Hey, darlings - anyone interested in England-Portugal, in the happy confines of a middle-class pub? Or would it be safer to hide in our homes, texting furiously, to avoid brick/head action?

Can you find a pub with an adjoining non-sports one. Then the unfootie of us can await your return to congratulate or point and laugh.

And we will pants you.

In which case I'm going to wear my pants of disrespect.

This should probably go back in the direction of on-topic soon.

Surely not. I might be interested, provided it's not too loud and shouty.

The middle-class pub where Flybs and I and Flowers and AnnnadeL saw the QF was pretty civilised - room to sit down and not a nasty atmosphere... that could work. The Blue Posts woudl have footba' downstairs and no footba' upstairs, but TBH if you're not interested in watching the footie there's probably not a vast amount of point in coming to a footba' watching meet, since it will in effect be two meets. Also, the screen at the Blue Posts is not the biggest...

Ugh, no, I don't want to watch it at the Blue Posts - a smoke-filled den of iniquity. Nor do I wish to sit upstairs on my own... I will check in tomorrow and see where you are going...

Am well up for a 'football is small-talk crutch for the conversationally crippled' pub meet, but am fated to be stuck at a work 'do' where the boss has splashed out on a big flat screen TV so that those afflicted with the blight that is footie-love have no excuses for not coming.

Well, I for one will miss your complaints in every discussion about football that the discussion is about football...

OK, so how about the Golden Lion, Kings Cross Road, just down from the Thameslink station, meet 6:30-7ish?

Sounds like a great night. Am terribly sorry I'll miss it.

I prefer the term "differently conversationally able" myself.

I'll be the one in the replica strip, drooling and masturbating.

I'd like to go, but a) I hate football and b) I have no money 'til PAYDAY! tomorrow.

What to do?

Probably see what women-centered movie 5 is showing...

OK - Looks like there will be a Barbelith presence from about 6:30. I'll expect to make it about 7...

Not a big football fan, but don't mind watching the odd england match, and my drinking plans for this evening have fallen through. Is it the Golden Lion in Kings Cross, where flyboy's birthday was?

Yeppers.

The Golden Lion is down Kings Cross Road, on the left as you walk away from Kings Cross Station, not too far down - just after Britannia Street, I guess...

I don't finish work until 8:00, so will be dashing along to the pub at the end of the street to watch it, if England get through is the next match likely to be Monday, 'cos I'll be free for that...

How on Earth did I spend that much last night? I mean, how? A round, 5 or 6 pints, a sandwich I have *no* memory of eating... it just doesn't add up. Was I pressing tenners into people's hands and begging them to like me?

Ah well. Horrible result, ulcerating tension, but I can't think of a better way of experiencing it. I blame the evil funfair...

Was a bit odd - having been phoned, I returned to the noisy environs of the pub to find that everyone bar Kit-cat had gone. Was it something I said?

Hmm, I think you gave me £1 via fly but I'm not sure if that's real or not. I may just be making it up.

I went home to weep as I cooked dinner. Tears of pain and mourning. If only Croydon had burnt. I hear Jersey burnt. Excellent.
