Jade, did you even bother reading the abstract before you posted?

There seems to be a problem with links to posts on the board, in that they don't always take you to the correct post. You're always taken to the correct page, but the post that you were supposed to see at the top of the screen might appear in the top, bottom, or anywhere in between.

Hm. The clock appears to have reverted back to it's old ways...

Unless it really is about 10 at night...

It's tied to one of the US timezones, which changed to summertime yesterday, so it's only just gained an hour on us again this weekend.

There's an odd PM page glitch in that if you click on unread messages, read the top message, and then choose backpage on your browser to go back to the messages page (rather than clicking the messages link) you don't see any messages you were sent after 29.03.04. If you click messages then all the messages sent after that are there, but not if you just backpage.

Which is weird.

Oh, hmm. And when I just posted the previous post I was taken to a screen with the title of the thread on it, and the add your reply link, but no actual thread body. It didn't appear when I refreshed either. I had to click Policy and Help, and then the name of the thread again.

Mind you, I am using Safari.

It was so pleasant having the time be right (for me), for once. I'd only just gotten used to it! Oh well.

olulabelle> That sounds a lot like the problem I had with the 'Random Q&A' thread. It used to happen on the old board when a thread went over a certain number of pages, but I had it pop up on a one-page thread yesterday

Whereas I have the respect of my private army of fanatical followers, armed to the teeth and willing to die at a moment's notice.

Unfortunately, they're mostly imaginary.

Some users' posts are sent out of line by something, possibly their long, single-word ficsuit names. It's only a handful of people, but when it happens it does spoil the look of the threads.

The link to the Wiki at the top of the page is only visible when you're in a thread or one of the forum index pages - it's not present on the main Underground page. Could explain why people are missing it.

Little bug - ending topic abstracts of a certain length with a punctuation point seems to confuse the board into adding a second, completely empty line to that abstract. Check out the Comics index and scroll down until you see the 'Joycore comics recommendations' thread link.

Requests to alter the "Is this art" thread in Creation are still coming through to Conversation mods, at least, they're coming through to me, in spite of the fact that the thread was moved from Conversation to Creation.

Yeah, I've noticed that about moved threads as well. Not a problem per se, but bloody weird.

The board's running really slowly for me (maybe not for anyone else) but the lack of that drop down menu just became a major irritation.

I seem to have a problem with the search engine - I can only look at the first 10 results of however many might turn up.

Anybody else see this? Or am I just missing the [next page] link?

It's an old problem, but now that the site's on Google, searching from google.com works quite well.

I knew that....

Thanks. The board seems to be fine, but I'm a little slow tonight.

FTV&T just changed colour on me and is the same shade of red that the Comics forum used...the actual forum listing is still in the same shades of yellow, except the title bar seems to have vanished altogether. Refreshing the page does not solve this problem.

URGH! Sometimes, when I try to link directly to a PDF or MP3, when I post the link, it gets altered, making it useless. The last character is replaced by >

No, that's html, and not coming up in the preview.
O.K, it's )(br%20/) only replace the () with <>.

Are you writing these links in a word processing program and then pasting them into Barbelith?

Because that might be the problem.

Lord Morgue

Hum. I have the Wiki page on posting links and images on favourites, and I usually cut and paste, rather than type the whole mess in, but I'm cutting straight from the Wiki- that should work, right?

Lord Morgue
15:42 / 22.06.04
Ah, I got it, it was some funny quirk of the wrap-around in the comment box inserting a space when I cut-and-pasted, which got read as that scrap of html code, for some reason. I just have to fix it by hand when it happens. Thanks.

Mod page: I just moderated a comment and "proposed change" was in a column to the right of "original version", rather than below it, squishing everything else into the left-hand column (making the whole thing a bit hard to read).

This isn't deliberate, is it?

Was that an edit to a fucked up link? I've noticed that happening a few times, always when somebody's screwed their HTML in the original post.

fridgemagnet
19:37 / 02.07.04
It was, actually, as far as I remember.

That's the problem with displaying the actual post rather than the text of the post. On the one hand, you can tell if the person has actually fixed the link, but if they really fucked their HTML it can cause the same problems.

Perhaps two text boxes with the old and new posts in them, and a link to a "Preview" page, would be better.

There's a thread in the Convo that seems to have been moderated into a peculiar state.
The title (and so the link) has been removed but the abstract is still there. Ie:
'Sure, it could possibly go in the "worst" list, but you don't want to overlook the unintended fulfillment it brought into your life.'

It's got -1 replies, which happens when the opening post is deleted but not the thread. But I'm curious, for future reference: how can we manage to mod threads into *this* state, where no further moderation seems possible?
