CameronStewart -- Sin Titulo is great; one of my favorite webcomics and so different from your other stuff. I dunno about the lack of readers, but maybe it's coz it's done in such a compelling, unsettling realist style? Personally, I enjoy it so much more when I read it in chunks; anything less kinda leaves me hanging. It's a longform story, after all.

ALSO: I'm loving The Abominable Charles Christopher. Poker-faced absurdism at its best. And talking bees!

Mark Parsons -- WOW, that's amazing news! Will pick it up when it's out! I've been following Marvel Comics Presents and (at least for the first two issues) I like the Immonens' Hellcat story the best. Looking forward to see what story you and Tom Cohen have cooked up. And with McGuiness art! Fantastic!

Sometimes I fear that the webcomic world is too much like the poetry and short-fiction worlds, where the only people who really care are the ones doing it, so the audience is pretty much only other creators.

COBRAnomicon -- I really don't think this is the general case. It's just that the Internet is rife with content, and webcomics are just one of many online diversions for the regular surfer's enjoyment. It's gotta compete with news sites, Youtube, forums and other stuff.

I think it's just like any other media; the audience chooses its flavor and it's up to creators to do the best they can--both in making good work, and in getting it noticed. Webcomics, IMO, are far from ghettoed and I feel it's a medium that's still evolving to it's full potential.

Calamity Jon Morris (who does the fantastic "Little Batman" and "Jeremy" comics) runs this monthly themed cartoon challenge on his livejournal.

This month's theme was The Music of Tom Waits

I did one on the song What's He Building in There? (clicking takes you to the next page.)

first AndrewDrillon's stuff is still fantastic and really looking forward to Mr White's Terminus as seen on mindlessones
haven't got Buffalo Roots' yet (sorry!)

I'm in a competition on an American website to pitch a comic series idea. The winner gets a four issue mini-series.

The project is here
http://www.dimestoreproductions.com/Content/Tokyogonzo.html

if you like the look of it, hate the look of the other entries, or just wish to bolster my dying sense of self-worth and would like to support it there are two simple steps

1. Register (free) here
http://www.dimestoreproductions.com/Your_Account/register.html
http://www.dimestoreproductions.com/Your_Account/register.html

2. then every day you remember, up until May 4th click on this link
http://www.dimestoreproductions.com/ForumsPro/viewtopic/t=4103.html
and post 'YES'

You may if you wish customise the YES with a 'goddammit' or an 'indeedy' or whatever takes your fancy but a clear 'YES' is important.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
If you are friendly with geeks and know anyone who may like this then please feel free to pass it on.
As a warning the site is based in Ohio (5 hours behind the UK) and closes to count votes our afternoon, like now-ish.

cheers all

Our MCP McGuiness-drawn Hulkish tale got bumped to issue 9. I have always preferred nines to eights, anyway.

Tom and I got to proof/check a b/w pdf of the art, which was our first such experience and was way cool.

Been away for quite some time (and never was the most vociferous whilst here), but I'm quietly nosing around some comics fora again.

Not sure how much I qualify as a Barbelither (but I've got more than one post under me belt), however, I'm a comics writer guy, of the recently-released Strangeways: Murder Moon OGN. It's a cowboys and werewolves trip into the haunted frontier west. Maybe a bit afield from the "usual" material discussed over here, but I think I took a different enough tack that Barbelith folks wouldn' t be completely repulsed.

You can read the first chapter online at my website and order the book itself through Diamond or Amazon or any retailers serviced by those.

I'll happily answer any questions readers have on the material, or stand here quietly while you throw rotten banana peels at me in mockery. It's all up to you.

The Hulk eight-pager is not a branded all-ages tale, like Marvel Adventures. But there's nothing in it that's unsuitable for an eleven year old kid, IMO. There are lashings (great big honking double page lashings) of hulkitudinous superhyperultraviolence plus some bonus bits of pounding, thumping and smiting thrown in for good measure.

Is it "in continuity?" Hmm: wait-and-see. It's not directly tied to pre-existing or current story elements. Of course, we'd love to tell more short tales that follow on from this initial one. So write to your congressperson, political representative or local mafia don if you would like to see more!

went to No Barcodes at the weekend which was a mini small press con in Camden Market. There's a table there every Saturday for London 'lithers but this was their first big event, had about 45 creators including the rising superstars behind Phonogram and Daniel Merlin Godberry plus chancers like me.
There's another one planned for the end of August and talk of marquee's and bands. Good day with some fantastic work on display.
I have to give a shout out to Ben Powis who's work blew me away with it's beauty and grace. Lovely production values too.

i've just partnered with Ronin Studios to launch the print version of THE MAJOR in print through Ka-Blam's print-on-demand model.

this will allow me to be able to promote the comic better - getting the word out there is critical now - and with Ronin's support get it into conventions at the upper hemisphere, which due to geographical reasons i can't work out.

but since it's an action comic, and being aware of the still present prejudice agains Black and White action comics, which do you guys as readers think would be best:

- a cheap print comic in B&W?

- or a color comic a wee bit more expensive?

Being a limey we have a long and noble tradition of black and white action that doesn't seem to hurt it. Our normal person (not just comic geek) bookshops are stacked with reprints of black and white war comics and Pat Mills update of Savage is all in b&w.
and lets face it your artist is strong enough to carry it, but maybe it would make a difference in the States, i don't know enough about the small press/indie scene out there
and the place of action comics within it.

not much help there was i?

been reading through btw and it's good splodey stuff man.
