I'd put this in the movie section if it wasn't so much of a conversation/idea thing.
And just so you guys know, I've yet to see the picture, but I've heard it to be extremely horrid from plethoras of sources.
So ya, Reloaded seems like a wonderful candidate for the postmodern future freaks to have some fun with, know what I mean? An unintentional cult classic. Anyone see where I'm going with this? But then again I've never seen Reloaded (and I really don't want to: I'm putting it off and off) and you guys will probably be predictable and ask me to explain "postmodern future freaks" before you discuss the issue at hand.
The issue being a perfect answer to the Hollywood marketing of ideas invented by the fringe decades and decades ago: finally pacakged to the masses as this hip new version of the "take the red pill" future: the idea being to play the commentary on this issue as the new Rocky Horror/MST3K for the cynical/twisted/jaded/cyborg generation.
Flame on, brothers and sistas. But don't take "postmodern future freaks" seriously, because this whole new flesh thing is all about being aware of its ironic/marketed silliness and twisting it around into new craziness.
Let's start now! You're either with us or you're with the terrorists. I declare Matrix Reloaded, which I have yet to see, the new unintentional cult classic. |
