i have been trying to find somewhere to buy a torc, an item of jewellery for the neck.

they look a bit like this:

and are often quite expensive.

do any of you know of a place i can get one, but hopefully at a nice price? i am based in glasgow now, and would prefer a 'meatspace' shop, one where i can look and touch the goods.

(i should also say the chunkier the better.)

My friends (the "Ballus" or "Billy-bollas") insist Slaine is actually pronounced "Shlarn". Not so cool now, eh? Who wants to look like Shlarn? Not me, that's for sure.

haus is right, he can pronounce it.

and i dont give the ass of a rat how it is said, i am that pretty, and all that is missing is my torc and my axe.
and i assume that none of you have any idea where to go, apart from ukko's. where i hear they charge far too much, and the sales staff are too pushy.

Have you tried contacting any of the re-enactment groups? Brigantia for instance, they must have a source somewhere.

I'll try that link again Brigantia

P.S it has music on it so worth turning down your sound if at work.

they had how to make a torc on that site, but it looks like something i would end up regretting trying...

no wonder they seem to be expensive.

I haven't had a good look at that site for a couple of years. Think torc making is going to go on the things to do eventually list.

Hmmm well theres a thread here that might be of interest. But the RL shops it mentions are in Brighton and Newcastle so you might be better off going to a Re-enactors fair if there are any up your way.

I'd recommend a trip down London way. The guys at Metal Crumble in
Stokey are the best source I can imagine. They do tend to try to tell
you why you don't really want something, then get on and make it and
charge about half the value. They seem to not really want to make any
money. But they are amazing at their craft. I will look in the
window and see if it already exists.

Who or what is slaine? The Swiss death metal band? A roleplaying character? I looked it up on Google, and that was what came up...
