Anyone here familiar with '80s TV comedy "The Comic Strip Presents.... Five Go Mad In Dorset"?

Remember the tune that plays in the background whenever the Famous Five are cycling through the countryside? It's been used all over the place, whenever a programme maker wants to suggest "cheery, carefree 1950s suburban carry-ons". It's so familiar, but I haven't a clue what it's called. It *might* be the theme to "Housewife's Choice", but that's just a guess (and google suggests not).

As for the composer, I've a suspicion, having heard a similar track on the "Music for TV Dinners" compilation, that it's by C King Palmer, which I've googled but not had any joy with.

Anyway, if anyone could point me to an mp3 of it and/or tell me the name and the composer, I'd be reet grateful.

In fact, while I'm here, I wouldn't mind "the train one" as well. You know the one: about the same era, similar sound but with a "dubba-dubba-duh, dubba-dubba-duh" rhythm and the sweeping strings sounding a bit grander.

Any chance anyone has "on fire" by Sebadoh? My MP3player ate it.
Thanks.

This is just a general response for anyone who might be interested.

I'm pretty active on Soulseek and I have a lot of albums and I'm more than happy to share with anyone here.

Just run a user search for simulatedstereo and if you see anything you like then help yourselves. Just send me a little message and let me know you're a 'Lither.

It would also be pretty easy to create a Barbelith room over there (if it hasn't been done already) where everyone who uses soulseek could get together and swap.

At any rate, I have everything from 2Tone to Young Marble Giants; A lot of 60's psych compilations,Post-Punk, Jazz, and whatever else you might like. I'm also ripping discs all the time to add to the collection and if you're looking for a specific album that isn't on the computer it might be on my shelf.

NEWS FROM BABEL

Anyone remember them? Some chap from Henry Cow and a bunch of others (including Robert Wyatt on one album) making strange, jazzy, cabaret music with clarinets and suchlike.

I remember hearing a track by them on a Peel show in 1986 or 87 and being completely amazed by it. I'm after that track.

I could have sworn it was called 'Letters Home'. But I can't find any reference to a track of that name on the web. I've just got hold of the album called 'Letters Home', thinking that I must have confused the track name with the name of the album it was from, but the track I'm after isn't on there.

It looks like they only did one other album (and that doesn't have a track called 'Letters Home' on it), and I can't find any singles listed anywhere.

So I suppose my question is: did News From Babel ever do a track called 'Letters Home', and if so, can I get hold of it?

Could it have been part of a Peel session?

Hey, slightly odd request here, but if anyone would be able to email / yousendit me an MP3 of the song "Halah" by Mazzy Star in the next 24 hours or so, that would be much appreciated!

Less urgently, I'm also trying to track down a couple of garage/rock n' roll fave raves that I've had for ages of vinyl or tape, but want to get digital versions of, specifically;

The Fire - 'Father's Name was Dad', The Flies (i think!) doing 'Stepping Stone' and The Nightcaps' 'Wine Wine Wine'.

Help will be repaid with all manner of awesomeness.

"News From Babel" is a great band name.

Unfortunately though I've never heard of 'em, let alone heard 'em - sorry Saveloy.

I loves me some John Oswald, and I'm currently delving into his "Grey Folded," which is a reconstruction of the Grateful Dead's "Dark Star" as a full album, built from samples of hundreds upon hundreds of live Dead recordings of "Dark Star."

And it's awesome, but I've never (cough) heard "Dark Star." Could somebody help me out here?

Muliply music
It's a networking site and the song is streaming, but it's a 19 and a half minute rhapsody (that I regrettably can't listen to cause I'm using a computer from 1036). Doesn't seem promising that you'll get it in mp3 though you might check out different file sharing sites (torrents?)

Ursula Rucker had, as a single, I'm pretty sure, a remix of Supa Sista (how many years back, I have no clue), possibly by ?uestlove, The Roots' drummer. Does anyone have this, or hell, even a link for the video featuring it?
