If it's any consolation, Rothkoid, Christmas has suddenly become more hassle-y. Okay, so two days ago, saying "Yeah, if you're working, I'll cook Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve" seemed like a really good idea. Now the potatoes are in the oven, and I've just had to phone my mum to find out exactly what the fuck you do with parsnips, and I'm dreading midnight when (by my calculations anyway) the veggie fillet things have to go in. And the guy who had promised to help me has just gone home (fair enough, he was working last night and has been awake for about 36 hours, and he did come to the supermarket with me, and he also got me "Society" on DVD, so I'm SO not dissing the guy).

I have a whole new respect for my mother, having managed to do Christmas for our whole family every year until we were old enough to get the fuck out of Somerset.

I don't think being pissed is helping any, though.

(I have Polish Christmas Eve dinner- a ridiculous amount of food and lets not go into the fact it's meant to have 26 courses or something, my mother has scrapped 20 of them- and early unwrapping of presents so my house becomes fake Poland once a year and since it's now Christmas Day...)

Well, whaddya know? The food turned out okay. And I didn't burn the house down. Now I'm going to go to sleep, because I'm spending the day itself with a couple of friends and their 15-month-old baby (and I'm really looking forward to giving her her present- it's a fingerpuppet theatre, which I have a funny feeling I'm gonna play with more than she does) and have to get up early to do so.

Well, love to you all. I've had the tear-inducing lyrics to "You Are My Sunshine" in my mind all day and can't get out of blue, no matter how much Scott Joplin I listen to. So a big Christmas hug to all of you, and I hope you're having it better than me. I'm all right, nominally, but I feel like I'm gonna fall apart mentally, and worry that I impinge on everyone for doing so. I'm really, really sorry.
