What Is Queer Granny?

From Barbelith

The reason I am setting up the Queer Granny FAQ in the Barbelith FAQ is because I really only want to feature Barbelith posters on the QG site (http://www.queergranny.com), which is nicely developing into a sort of satellite Barbelith art collective. The site is run by me, Persephone (http://www.barbelith.com/profile/415). And it's still evolving, so it's perfect to write it up in a wiki.

There are two parts to Queer Granny so far.

Queer Granny Designs QG Designs features t-shirt designs mostly inspired by stuff that people say around the board. The designs are freely available as downloadable iron-on images. There may occasionally be actual t-shirts on sale, as presently I have a few of the original No Kiss Kiss Bears t-shirts still available. I never intend to make money from this site. If I ever make any profits, I'm just going to send them to Tom's Pay Pal account to help pay for the board.

You're welcome to have your designs on the site, as long as you agree to make your design freely available as a downloadable iron-on image. Design-wise, the only thing that you might consider is the iron-on "medium" --i.e., solid shapes and colors do better than lines and white space. This is because --if you think about it-- white actually prints as no color; and when it's ironed on, it looks like dried glue. But this is one of the reasons I love design! There are so many ways to skin a cat. Finally, send me a full-size 300 dpi image in .jpg or similar format. I will make a reverse image for the iron-on, and a display-size image for the site.

Queer Granny Comics and Zines QG Comics and Zines just got exciting all of a sudden. It was going to be an ordinary distro for comics and zines produced by Barbelith folk. But then Pin had the brilliant idea of making stuff available in .pdf format, too. So it will be a mix of free downloadable files and also some paper copies for sale, as I do like the paperyness of zines.

So to have your stuff up here, either email me a .pdf or send me some copies of your comic or zine. Don't send, like, a hundred copies. This is a very tiny operation, five should suffice. All .pdfs will be offered for free. Paper zines will be sold at your price plus postage, which I will calculate. I will reimburse myself for postage only. You may choose to get back your proceeds via Pay Pal or to pass them on to Tom's Pay Pal account.
