Vigilante

From Barbelith

Profile

Vigilante was a cowboy. Well, an urban country singer, but son of an old sheriff and grandson of an Indian fighter. Also known as Greg Sanders, the Prairie Troubadour.

He rode a horse or a motorcycle depending on where it was he was a-riding, and he had a sidekick called Stuff the Chinatown Kid.

Unlike a lot of Golden Age heroes, he inspired a 15-part movie serial, starring Ralph Byrd. Soon after, writers decided that he'd been stuck in the past, like for 20 years in the Old West. Some kind of time travel accident at the end of World War II -- who knows.

Anyway, nowadays he occasionally turns up in one story or another -- sometimes in the 1800s, and sometimes in modern New York. In the past, his last name becomes "Saunders."
