The Gathering

Barbelith is a community, not a billboard: you wouldn't want anyone to mistake your thread for spam and delete it or argue about it or anything like that, so it has been suggested that entry-level for new topics in the Gathering should be:

a) that the title, summary or first post includes the name of the event or the purpose of the gathering (gig, club night, pub meet, neo-pagan ritual), the location, and the timescale of the event (with clock and calendar represented).

b) That if the Barbelith connection is not clear (e.g. it is a member's band or a gathering of members), some explanation of why it is being posted is given. This could be as basic as "this looks interesting. I am going on Wednesday. Anyone fancy coming along?", or as complex as "When I was 15, Roxette saved my life.... (3000 words later) anyone want to come?".

I don't think this is unreasonable. If somebody does not manage this, then they are asked to provide more detail. If they cannot manage that, the thread is locked, perhaps, unless some other kind person takes on those responsibilities.

If you want to promote the latest event to held by your own band/theatre group/DJ collective/whatever, you totally should be posting in here. 'Lithers tend to be extremely supportive of each other's creative endeavours in the Real World, especially if the occasion can be connnected with alcohol and/or anything else that's fun. But the Gathering tends to get lower numbers of visitors than the other fora, so you might want to post in this thread too: The Barbe-Plug Thread (http://www.barbelith.com/topic/13034)
