The Bulleteer
From Barbelith
Background
The Bulleteer is a new character, although apparently based on the Fawcett character Bulletman, who debuted in 1940. Bulletman was police forensics scientist Jim Barr, who invented a "gravity regulating helmet" enabling him to fly and giving him limited invulnerability and super-strength. He was later joined in his adventures by his girlfriend Susan kent, AKA Bulletgirl. After 1949, the character lay dormant until DC bought the rights to the Fawcett characters in the 1970s. In the 1990s, Jim Barr was used to great effect in James Robinson's Starman.
New Story
The new hero, Bulleteer II is Alix Harrower, and she is covered in living metal.
Morrison on The Bulleteer, in a Comicon interview (http://www.comicon.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=36;t=004150), 5 Sept 05: "Bulleteer is Alix Harrower, a young woman whose life falls apart when her husband's attempts to turn both of them into superheroes goes seriously awry.... The story of how a reluctant superhero is born from the ashes of personal disaster. I think of this one as my 'Bendis book' but it's drawn like Penthouse!"
