Talk:Mister Miracle 1

Hmmm...

I just went through this article adding external links to character pages into the "Featured Characters" table, and removing corresponding repeat links from the body of the article's text. Now I'm not sure it was such a good idea.

My original thought was that the Featured Characters/Locations Table at the top should be a one-stop reference point for background information on characters. That way it's organized and tidy, easy to update, etc.

Now, I'm afraid that taking links out of the body of the article will ruin the organic surfing experience. (Example: While reading the annotations, you scroll down to Page 10, where an intriguing new character is mentioned for the first time; you want to know more, but who wants the annoying inconvenience of scrolling all the way back up to the top to find the character's name on a list when before you could just click it in the paragraph?)

But on the other hand, I think it's annoying to have every fifth word in the entire article be highlighted in blue hypertext. I think it's distracting and makes the text harder to read by interrupting the flow.

I'm conflicted. What do you guys think? Links in Table? Links in Text? Both?

  • Tentatively, I'd say the table is a better idea -- people have to scroll past it to get to the text, so they should see the links there on the way down. --grant 12:36, 22 Sep 2006 (EDT)
