HOUSE STYLE
[edit]
Overview
The Temple Journal is using a bastardized version of AP Style.
There are brief overviews of this style in numerous locations on the web:
> http://www.bu.edu/com/writingprgm/ap_styleguide1.pdf

- See Edit Patrol.
[edit]
Numbers
- One through nine are spelled out, 10-infinity are given as numerals.
- If a number greater than 10 appears in a sentence, all numbers in that sentence are given as numerals.
[edit]
Pronouns
- When possible, try to write around gendered pronouns (use "one" rather than "he or she").
[edit]
Punctuation
- Commas and periods placed inside quotation marks, colons and semi-colons outside.
- When a quotation within a quotation ends a sentence, insert a single space between the single and double quotation marks.
"She said, 'I now understand your rule about quotations.' "
[edit]
Spelling
- In general, maintain American spellings ("gray," not "grey"; "honor," not "honour") unless quoting from published material using British spellings.
