Posting Errors

From Barbelith

There are four possible problems you might experience when trying to post to barbelith.

Sometimes, you thought you posted something and you can't see it on the thread. The best thing to do is hit refresh first, before trying to resubmit the post - a lot of times, it's just sitting there, hidden from your browser because of caching or something similar.

Sometimes, you'll get a message that you've exceeded your posting limits. This isn't an error per se, it's a limit set on posts to make it impossible for trolls and spammers to damage the board. See Posting Limits.

Sometimes you'll actually get a nasty error message or the board will freak out. This is mostly a problem with the database servers being overloaded and doesn't last long. Some browsers will keep what you posted if you click 'back' and you can try again. These are good browsers and I would generally recommend their use - particularly if you're going to be writing really long stuff.

Sometimes you might be told that your IP address has been blocked. This mostly means that your IP address has been blocked. This is not always about you - sometimes someone on the same ISP as you might be misbehaving and on occasion this necessitates blocking the ISP (it's very hard to block individual people). If you think you've been blocked unfairly, do not freak out, just send an e-mail to Tom Coates and he'll get back to you as soon as he is able.
