Nanotechnology

From Barbelith

Ok. Ok. OK.

Nanotech will provide us with the capacity to build anything up from the atomic level. Consider the cells in your body as crude inefficiant versions of the type of nanoconstructors that are coming.

Technology continues to advance and evolve at an accelerating pace (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/).

Grant morrison was really on point with his concepts of technoocult and the game that people take the hallucinagen to play in the last issue. Think of that girl with fuck u on her forehead, saying that she will take her education into her own hands, and think about the reality of wikipedia and open course ware from MIT.

Look at Second Life (http://secondlife.com/) ... We are truly living the invisibles condition.

I'm posting this as a seed for a larger discussion about the role of technology and the invisibles mythos.

Look at the progression:

Teilhard de Chardin -> says that the whole universe has had constantly increasing levels of complexity ( atoms, molecules, life , human consciousness) This evolutionary process will culminate in the omega point and the noosphere, a transcended entity of infinite conscousness and knowledge.

Philip K Dick reads Teilhard, and picks up on these themes. Blade runner: what is human? Valis: Man contacted by a transcendant consiousness from space through a pink laser ( Grant's Katmandu expirience, Barbelith)

Grant Morrison picks up on these themes in the Invisibles and The Matrix rips it all off.

We are clearly living at a special time. The technology we enjoy day will look like old Thomas Edison stuff in about 15 years.

Discussions this wiki should address: If all this crazy, miraculous stuff is going to happen, and alot of it is linked to the technologies that we, the human race will create, what is the role of the average citizen in making sure that these technologies will be created as soon as possible and deployed in a safe and beneficial way?
