Background

Limbo Town is the underground home of Klarion, the Witch-Boy.

From references dropped in the first issue and in the final issue, it seems likely that:

this settlement consists of the descendants of witches exiled from the surface world during the American colonial era (thus pilgrim garb, the business about "only when we're pure will we be allowed to return to Blue Rafters")...

it may be bordered above by the Secret Subways of New York (when revealing what lies above High Market, Klarion's friend Ezekiel mentions "rails" and "tunnels")...

it may be bordered above by Slaughter Swamp, via Klarion's Graveyard, home of the grundies...

it is contiguous in some way with lands of the Sheeda -- since they know what Sheeda are (and, in some cases, are unafraid of them). Thus, it may share a border with Nebula Man.

Submissionary Judah says that the people of Limbo Town have fallen between Heaven and Earth and Hell, partaking of all, but belonging to none. Could Limbo Town be an "in-between" place in the same way as Slaughter Swamp?

On the other hand, he speaks of Limbo Town as a refuge, where the Witch-Men may wait in safety while the Sheeda storm wipes out civilization in the world above. That hope implies that Limbo Town is not an entry-point for the Sheeda invasion, but rather a remote recess that the Sheeda may reach last, or overlook altogether.

The inhabitants of Limbo Town are said to be the descendants of Sheeda-human pairings. There's a long folk tradition of seeing fairies as fallen angels (http://www.sacred-texts.com/neu/celt/ffcc/ffcc121.htm) and an equally long biblical (http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?artid=384&letter=E) tradition (http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/01602a.htm) regarding fallen angels (http://www.mystae.com/restricted/streams/scripts/watchers.html) and their illicit couplings with humans (http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mgiantsons.html) -- a terrible corruption said to be the cause of the Great Flood. In Genesis, these offspring are referred to as "giants in the earth" -- not that bad a description of people living underground. Is Klarion quite literally one of the Nephilim (http://www.deliriumsrealm.com/delirium/mythology/watchers.asp)?
