Fairly major visual reference with the space/time spears being the absolute spitting image of the aliens' manipulation of water in The Abyss.

The Abyss = James Cameron = Terminator = time travel.

According to AICN, Kelly is working on a film called The Rift, about a group of college students that travel to Antatctica with a professor to build some sort of space/time portal. James Cameron is slated to produce. Of course, it sorta sounds like bullshit. Why would the director follow a movie about time rifts with a movie about time/space rifts, unless he's trying to make a series?
