Free Image Hosting Services
From Barbelith
There are plenty of free image hosting services on the web - just go to Google.com and put "Free Image Hosting" and you should find plenty.
Barbelith recommends:
- Flickr.com (http://flickr.com/) - (social photo-sharing site that allows you to direct link to your images, and even has the code ready for you to cut and paste - go to "All Sizes" on the left of the photo. No limit at all on storage space, but limits the amount of data you can upload per month, though this is not likely to cause a problem unless you are uploading lots of large photos.)
We have a Barbelith Flickr group, too, 'specially for your community-type images.
Others to explore:
- Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com) (very easy format, direct linking to images, pic size up to 250kb, you can make your account private, semi-private or public).
- Imagestation (http://www.imagestation.com) (easy to use, direct linking ((right-click, take the ".orig.jpg" off the end of the file name)), run by Sony, occasionally runs out of bandwidth ((which makes the photos disappear)) but allows lots of storage).
- Imageshack (http://imageshack.us/) which seems to work perfectly well for me. Helpfully tells you what the HTML should be if you want to paste your images into messageboard threads, and also allows for you to paste clickable 'thumbnails' that take up less room and bandwidth and stuff.
