Comment Fifteen
From Barbelith
15. The Sybil of Cumae protected the Roman Republic and gave timely warnings. In the first century C.E. she foresaw the murders of the Kennedy brothers, Dr King and Bishop Pike. She saw the two common denominators in the four murdered men: first, they stood in defense of the liberties of the Republic; and second each man was a religous leader. For this they were killed. The Republic had once again become an empire with a caesar. "The Empire never ended."
(chris23) See Ovid's Metamorphosis for the classical description of the Sybil of Cumae. She is an oracle, immortal but without mortal flesh - she is condemmed to whither away to just a voice (Logos?). She guides Aeneus through the underworld and guides him to the Golden Bough.
It would seem that Dick is saying that the Sybil is also the plasmate.

The Empire reigned from 70 C.E. to 1974 when the plasmate (Holy Spirit) returned and restarted Real time.
