Avalon

From Barbelith

Avalon in Seven Soldiers

10,000 years ago, in the 81st century BC, the kingdom of Avalon spanned the globe. It's capital was located at Camelot, where King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table held court. At the height this civilization, it was said that there was not one soldier in all of Avalon who's heart was less than pure, and there was no disease because even the microsopic races were loyal to the throne and did no harm to man. The people of Avalon are said to have been "optimal humans."

Following the death of Arthur, the Knights of the Broken Table fell in battle to the invading Sheeda. Lancelot was killed and Camelot was sacked. There followed the five-hundred year kingdom of King Mordredd the Dead. Thirty years into his reign, the fallen knights Bors, Peredur, and Galahad split the atom and began the War to End the World, which would eventually wipe out the last remaining traces of Avalon.

Avalon in Arthurian Legend

In Arthurian legend, Avalon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avalon) was the isle of the dead, the island to which Arthur was taken as he was dying. The name is derived from the Welsh ynys yr Afallon, "the island of apples."
